The Scarlet Seer - Art Print
$50.00
As terrifying as they are, the Xenomorphs are also quite beautiful, don’t you think? Beyond the overtly sexual imagery (of which there is plenty), and deeper even than the purely bio-mechanical loveliness of it all, there’s a certain almost-Gothic quality — the vaulting of their ribs is like the roof of a cathedral, the smooth and elongated forms like carven pillars. Even their elongated, skeletal silhouettes remind us of the marble statues of Death you might see embedded in ancient architecture.
I think because of that, I started to imagine a complex tidal wave of bodies, like a beautiful rendering of hell or the afterlife. And I imagined this one single scarlet alien, perched on the others and waiting, watching the skies with their long arm half-raised... had he spotted something? A ship, perhaps... and a way up, into the realm of the living.
